Publisher Billie Johnson is back from the Puerto Vallarta Writers' Conference where she met OTP authors DOUG DANIELSON and JIM CALLAN for the first time. Doug launched his next seaworthy mystery, “Sea-Duction,” and Jim his contemporary Western mystery, “A Ton of Gold.” The weather in Mexico is exceptional this time of year, but poor Billie came back to yet another storm waiting for her in the Midwest. Fingers crossed for spring.
Back on the homefront, OTP
authors stayed busy with blogs, booksignings, newspaper interviews, , giving
speeches, winning awards and recovering from a Southern California literary
festival. Whew!
Political corruption, real estate
payoffs—and murder? TERRY AMBROSE, author of
“License To Lie,” interviews WENDY GAGER and discusses her latest Mitch
Malone mystery “A Case of Volatile Deeds.”
New Orleans
author HOLLI CASTILLO, author of “Gumbo
Justice” and “Jambalaya Justice” is now listed at Stop You're Killing Me under
new additions for February. The site lists author name, character and book
titles, with links to the author's website and Amazon links to buy the book(s).
Time to climb on board this “killer” website!
MARTA
CHAUSEE launched “Murder's Last Resort” at the San Gabriel Literary Festival
and many Oak Tree authors were there to enjoy her special moment. For photos
and more on the event, check out her blog:
Also,
he made Kristen Elise giggle with the “novel” ideas he discarded in a piece posted
on Murder Lab (we're loving that site!):
SUNNY
FRAZIER (“Fools Rush In,” and “Where Angels Fear”) and OAK TREE PRESS got a
shout-out from Julie Luek on her blog Write In the Thick of Things. She urges
authors to let their light shine when platform building:
“They Call Me Ace,” the latest in MARJA MCGRAW's Bogey series, has been chosen as the Mystery of the Month over at Patricia Gligor's blog. Check it out:
CINDY LADAGE and JANE
AUMANN (“My Name Is Huber”) have a “Meet the Authors” event tomorrow (March 2)
from 12-2 at The Sly Fox in Virden, Illinois. They also scored an interview in
the Charleston, Ill. Newspaper. Way to go!
Another
book launched at the San Gabriel Literary Festival was MARILYN MEREDITH's
latest Rocky Bluff P.D. novel, “Dangerous Impulses.” You can see the great
cover and hear what's next for Marilyn over at her “Musings.”
Overachiever of the week is Rabbi ILENE SCHNEIDER, author
of “Unleavened Dead.” This week, she
spoke at the Chestnut Hill Center for Enrichment in Philly. Next week, March 6,
she'll be giving a talk at the Book Club at 7:30 at Congregation Beth Tikvah,
Marlton, NJ. Then she's moderating a panel discussion with members of the NJ
Authors Network, on the topic "I've finished my manuscript; now
what?" at the Evesham Township Library in Marlton.
The cherry on the sundae? A great review from Davida Chazan

So great to see all the wonderful covers and all the areas you authors are getting the word out!
We love giving you a shout-out, Julie. Thank you for your support.
It was fun to finally get to meet Billie Johnson. She smuggled books down in her luggage so Jim Callan and I could have a great “International Book Launch.” Thanks, Billie!
Puerta Vallarta in winter. How envious I am! Great looking bunch of books being offered right now.
Billie also brought down copies of CHARACTER: THE HEARTBEAT OF THE NOVEL, a newly released book from Oak Tree Press on how to make memorable characters. It was my first look at it, after turning it over to OTP to publish. Fortunately, Billie got the green light at customs and they didn't look in her luggage.
Hi Sunny: Looks like a great selection of books. Keep up the great work. Don
I feel so privileged to have spent time with Sunny at the San Gabriel Literary Festival, where I also met John Brantingham and a bunch of amazing Oak Tree authors, then traveled to Puerto Vallarta for the annual conference. There I met up with Jim Callan and Doug Danielson (not for the first time)...and with Billie Johnson herself! I'm still recuperating from traveling and networking and have lots of new books to read. March is Reading Month for me, for sure.

Glad you had a great trip, Billie. Welcome back!
Has been a glorious time to be alive and be an OTP author! Thank you as always, Sunny and Billie. xoxox Marta
Back from a Kiwanis convention in beautiful downtown Burbank...crazy weekend and I'm just catching up. Thanks Billie and Sunny for the roundup!

I'm on the verge of hopefully joining the OTP family and Wow - are these people busy! Everywhere I look an author is out there promoting. Sunny told me, in no uncertain terms, that being involved was getting involved - when you finally get a book out the work triples. As I read about OTP's authors exploits I see exactly what she means - a whole new demanding, exciting world beyond the writing of the book, Can't wait.
